Daniel Zappelli, is a former Attorney General of the State and Canton of Geneva, who served between 2002 and 2011. In November 2011, Zappelli resigned his role as Attorney General for unknown reasons. Zappelli is notable as the only Geneva Attorney General in the (nearly) 600 year-history of the post, which was created in 1534, who did not complete his elected tenure.〔(Le Procureur général : historique d'une fonction (État de Genève) )〕 == Biography == A native of Noville, a city in the Swiss Canton of Vaud, hailing from a family of Italian descent, he followed studies in law, at the University of Fribourg, where in 1986 he earned a ''diplome'', i.e. the Swiss equivalent of a bachelor degree in law. In 1989, he earned a seat at the Geneva Bar, while employed at Swiss barristers ''Hauchmann & Monfrini''. He served as Deputy Attorney General in Geneva under as from 1996, whereupon in 2000 he became a judge at the Court of First Instance of the Geneva State Court of Justice in January 2000.
